Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Shipping and Receiving Manager to oversee and coordinate daily shipping receiving and warehousing activities. This role supervises and coordinates activities of the employees engaged in shipping and receiving of products and materials and in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment while meeting assigned department metrics. The overall goal is to ensure that the shipping and warehousing processes are running smoothly and effectively in order to meet or exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead the Shipping Receiving and Warehouse team in a union environment
  • Resolve issues regarding shipped orders
  • Continuously communicate with the Production and Customer Service teams to achieve Customer delivery dates
  • Move inventory by scheduling materials to be moved to and from warehouse coordinate inventory transfers with related departments
  • Develop work schedules and assign work to the S / R and Warehouse team
  • Maintain warehouse and consignment inventory using cycle count program
  • Maintain inventory and supplies by making requisitions receiving storing and securing the warehouse
  • Maintain appropriate shipping and receiving documentation track and report unfilled orders
  • Prepare reports for management including KPI achievements
  • Train evaluate employee performance and recommend promotions transfers and disciplinary action
  • Analyze performance of existing shipping and receiving systems; evaluate and recommend new programs to improve distribution methods and implement cost reductions
  • Collaborate with Production Purchasing and Customer Service to optimize processes for productivity quality safety and customerservice standards; identify warehouse system improvements resolve problems and ensure accuracy
  • Keep equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshoot breakdowns; track preventive maintenance; arrange repairs
  • Ensure compliance to safety requirements legal regulations and company policies
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree in a related field
  • 57 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience as Shipping manager
  • Experience in managing a team in a union environment preferred
  • Experience in using EDI and preparing shipping documents

    • Key Competencies

  • Possess a great knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures
  • Solid knowledge of logistics procedures
  • Required to lead effectively with a sense of urgency and an emphasis on great customer service
  • Computer savvy with excellent knowledge of MS Office especially Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and Problemsolving abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Detail oriented multitasked and a team player
  • Performs as a contributing and collaborative team member

    • Physical Demands and Working Conditions :

  • Manufacturing / industrial environment; some dust and noise.
  • High degree of mobility required to be on the Warehouse floor and move continuously through the manufacturing facility
