with leadership responsibility is to be filled. Reference is made to §§ 61 and 63 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Schleswig-Holstein.
The University of Lübeck (UzL) has a strong research focus on human medicine-centered life sciences, supported by an existing long-term collaboration with the Forschungszentrum Borstel, the Leibniz Institute of Virology (LIV, Hamburg), the “Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron” (DESY, Hamburg) and the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB, Hamburg) in the area of infection biology. To further strengthen this focus, the UzL seeks a cell biologist with international visibility and expertise in infection research, preferably in virology. The professorship will complement the research activities of the UzL in the field of eukaryotic cell biology related to infection, including, but not limited to virology, infectiology and infection-related cell metabolism. The candidate should demonstrate a strong track record of research excellence, have secured significant third-party funding, exhibit strong collaborative skills, and possess a comprehensive understanding of the field. The position also requires active participation in academic governance as well as contribution to and involvement in existing and upcoming research networks and consortia in these areas of research at the UzL.
A strong motivation to contribute to the academic teaching programs, in particular the teaching of general biology, molecular cell biology and genetics for students of human medicine as well as Bachelor and Master programs in natural sciences (including life sciences, psychology and informatics / technology / engineering) is expected. The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. Since part of the teaching is conducted in German, applicants are expected to acquire German language skills by the third year of employment. The UzL places strong emphasis on an excellent supervision of students and doctoral researchers and expects high levels of commitment from teaching staff.

A Dr. rer. nat., PhD, or an equivalent degree as well as a habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievements and demonstrated teaching experience are requirements for the application.
