Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
The Lamarr Institute brings together all AI activities of the University of Bonn and its founding partners with significant growth based on permanent institutional funding as part of Germany's national AI excellence initiative.
Applicants are expected to have demonstrated internationally outstanding research in one or more relevant subfields of Artificial Intelligence with a strong focus on Machine Learning, if possible related to one or more of the five major research areas of the Lamarr Institute :
The professorship will be appointed as tenured full professor (W3) within the Institute of Computer Science. Dual-career appointments are possible for suitable candidates.
The successful applicant represents the area in research and teaches within the programs of study at the Institute of Computer Science of the University of Bonn . Demonstrated teaching skills are required, German language skills are not required up front. The successful applicant will also be involved in a new degree program in AI currently being developed.
Besides integration into the Lamarr Institute, involvement with other major activities such as the excellence clusters PhenoRob, ImmunoSensation2, ML4Q and HCM and the transdisciplinary research areas of the University of Bonn is possible.
In addition to close cooperation within our partner institutions, we expect the capability of positioning the Lamarr Institute towards society and industry and willingness to contribute to the institute’s strategic responsibilities. The acquisition of third-party research funds and participation in and contribution to joint grant activities in computer science are requested.
