Hauptaufgaben
Serves as Chief Cook in an Army Troop Dining Facility exercising limited supervisoryresponsibility over work operations involving approximately 15-45 subordinate workers. Theoccupation and nonsupervisory grade level that best reflects the nature of the overall workoperation supervised is Cook, A2-6.1. Arranges work hours according to regular and special kitchen operations. Checks quality andexpediency of work and initiates or makes necessary corrections to insure that requiredperformance standards are met. Provides on the job training to personnel to increase quality ofwork performance. Inspects kitchen for cleanliness and sanitary condition: insures that safety andsanitary measures are observed; that economical use is made of personnel and materials and thatdiscipline is maintained. Disseminates pertinent administrative information to subordinates andensures compliance.
Works out daily menu and a la carte dishes for regular functions on basis of past experience.Discusses and works-out with supervisor menu and special dishes for special functions mainlyupon guest's demands. The working out includes the determination of quantity of food to beprepared, determination of quantity of different food supplies and spices necessary and pricecalculation to remain within limits of money allotted to regular and special functions.
Reviews headcount records and cash collection sheets and compiles meal consumption data.Prepares and submits consumption reports to local Troop Issue and Subsistence Activity (TISA) forsubsequent adjustment of ration funds. Prepares and submits requests for reimbursement tovarious Finance Offices and notifies customer units of transactions to be made. Ensures properfund utilization under consideration of established ceilings. Notifies supervisor to take correctiveaction when fund ceilings are exceeded. Prepares and forwards monthly status reports to higherheadquarters for information. Establishes accounts for Field Training Exercise (FTX) operationswith the respective local TISA.
Performs the full range of first line supervisory planning duties. Plans the work to be done on adaily or weekly basis, depending on work orders received from the customers or higher levels inthe organization. Ensures adequate tools, equipment, facilities, and materials are available and thatworkers with adequate skills are available to perform the work. Ensures that work is carried out inaccordance with customary work methods and within priorities, schedules, deadlines andresources established and approved by higher level supervisors. Oversees the work to ensuretimeliness and that work is progressing as planned; as required, brings situations requiringovertime or other adjustments to the supervisor's attention and recommends solutions.Recommends changes to schedules, priorities and work sequences as necessary to accomplishtasks.
Assigns work to individual subordinates and ensures they understand and are able to carry outthe work. Provides technical guidance and assistance to employee or through subordinate leaders
when difficult tasks are encountered. Monitors and observes work to ensure proper methods, tools, equipment and facilities are used, and to ensure that work progresses to met schedules.
Checks completed work for quality and compliance with accepted trade practices. Keeps supervisors informed of problems with high visibility or sensitive assignments, such as delays that
cannot be accommodated with adjusting workload. Assigns subordinates to team according to workload, adjusting between teams and work assignments as necessary.
Prepares performance plans and ratings as required for subordinates; advises of performance requirements and progress in meeting same. Counsels workers on how to improve performance;
explains new techniques; provides on the job training as required. Recommends promotions, classroom training, disciplinary action. Handles initial complaints, referring to supervisor when
unable to resolve. Assures that safety and housekeeping practices are observed. Approves short periods of leave and coordinates with higher levels on longer leave requests. Maintains work
reports and records.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
Completed vocational training in the appropriate trade PLUS 2 years experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the Wage Group 5 or equivalent. The applicant must be able to perform the duties independently. / Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung in der entsprechenden Gewerbegruppe mit einer Ausbildungsdauer von mindestens 30 Monaten, PLUS 2 Jahre Berufserfahrung in der Lohngruppe 5 oder in, vom Schwierigkeitsgrad vergleichbaren Tätigkeiten, welche selbständig ausgeübt wurden.

8 years of specialized experience of which 3 years must have been performed at the wage group 5 or equivalent level. / 8 Jahre einschlägige Berufserfahrung von denen mindestens 3 Jahre in der Lohngruppe 5 oder vergleichbaren Tätigkeiten ausgeübt wurden.
• Führerschein Klasse B erforderlich. / German driver's license class B required

Police Good Conduct Certificate (Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis): On initial appointment, or re-appointment after a break in service, candidates who have been selected for a position must present a police good-conduct certificate prior to appointment to the position. The applicant must obtain the certificate from the local resident registration office. The cost for the certificate isn't reimbursable. Non-US citizen family members, except German citizens are exempt from this requirement.

ATTENTION: Upon appointment with the US Forces it is required to present two valid Picture IDs to get access to the Computer Systems. Recognized documents are only: „Personalausweis" (Personal ID), „Reisepass" (Personal Travel ID) and the EU Driver's License (plastic card format). We recommend to assure at the time of application that at least two of these documents are available or requested.
Sicherheitsüberprüfung: Laut USAREUR Dienstvorschrift 604-1 wird innerhalb von drei Tagen nach der Einstellung eine Hintergrunduntersuchung eingeleitet, um die Eignung für eine Weiterbeschäftigung bei den US Streitkräften in Deutschland festzustellen. Foreign National Screening (Sicherheitsüberprüfung): In accordance with USAREUR Regulation 604-1, within 3 days after appointment, a background check will be initiated to determine suitability for continued employment with the U. S. Forces in Germany. If results are unacceptable, employment will be terminated during the probationary period, or any time thereafter if the background checks reveal that the employee constitutes a security risk.
