As part of our project with the start-up TestBlu, we are looking for a Student Assistant in AI Machine Learning to support the development, validation, and optimization of AI models for cfDNA-based early cancer detection within the CaniSense platform. Be part of change
- Preprocess, clean, and structure sequencing datasets for AI training and validation
- Conduct exploratory data analysis and feature engineering
- Develop, train, and optimize machine learning models for cancer detection and classification
- Run experiments, perform hyperparameter tuning, and evaluate model performance
- Document methodologies, results, and validation metrics in a structured and reproducible manner
- Support integration of validated AI models into the CaniSense platform
- Contribute to continuous improvement of model robustness, scalability, and accuracy
What you contribute
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled Masters student in AI, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field
- Strong Python skills (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow)
- Experience with data preprocessing and model evaluation techniques
- Understanding of statistical modeling and experimental design
- Structured, analytical mindset with strong documentation skills
- Experience working with neural networks
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing Explainable AI features
- Experience working with biological data
- Knowledge of model validation in healthcare or life sciences
- Familiarity with version control (Git), Jira and collaborative development

The position is initially limited to 1 year. An extension is explicitly desired.
The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
