The Junior Research Analyst provides the factual evidence that underpins our written counsel to chief executives and boards. This role ensures that every assertion we make on behalf of our clients is supported by rigorous inquiry and documented proof.
About JHC ConsultingJHC Consulting is a private advisory practice that assists leadership teams with consequential decisions. We do not use slide decks or facilitate group consensus sessions. Instead, we produce authored memoranda that provide deep, written analysis intended for the permanent record. Our work is designed to be read and cited long after the initial meeting has concluded. We believe a clear, seven page document offers more value than a long presentation that obscures the central question. Our firm operates with absolute discretion and analytical honesty, focusing on clarity over volume and evidence over assumption. We work primarily with organizations managing complex governance transitions and structural reorganizations where the stakes of a decision are high.
The roleAs a Junior Research Analyst, you will work closely with our advisors to source the data required for formal memoranda. Your primary responsibility is to find the signal in the noise. You will spend your time digging through corporate reports, legal filings, and historical records to verify facts. You will draft initial research briefs that summarize complex topics for your colleagues. Accuracy is the highest priority here. You will be expected to identify contradictions in data and track down original sources rather than relying on secondary summaries. Part of your week will involve checking the citations of our final documents to ensure every claim is defensible and grounded in reality.
What you will do- Conduct deep research into specific industries, organizations, and governance structures.
- Synthesize large volumes of raw information into concise internal research notes.
- Verify the accuracy of names, dates, financial figures, and historical events within drafts.
- Monitor ongoing strategic shifts and news related to active client engagements.
- Maintain a well organized internal library of research papers and archival documents.
- Draft factual appendices that accompany our primary advisory memoranda.
- Participate in internal review sessions where we stress test our written arguments.
What we need from youWe need someone who finds satisfaction in the details and cares about the nuances of language. You should have a natural curiosity for how organizations function and a drive to find the truth. A high level of literacy is essential as our primary output is written text. You must be comfortable working independently in a remote environment and managing your own research schedule. We value candidates who are comfortable admitting when they do not know an answer and will go find it. A calm temperament and the ability to focus on one task for several hours are important traits for this position. Intellectual honesty is more important to us than having the right corporate vocabulary.
Helpful backgroundBecause our work involves logic and evidence, a background in the humanities or social sciences is often very useful. Candidates who have studied history, law, or philosophy often perform well in our environment. These disciplines emphasize the ability to weigh conflicting evidence and build a coherent written argument. Experience with basic data analysis tools is helpful, but the ability to think critically about what data actually represents is more valuable. We also welcome interest from recent graduates who have experience working on complex research projects or academic journals during their studies. Any previous experience in a role requiring high attention to detail will be seen as an advantage.
What we offerThis role is fully remote, allowing you to work from wherever you are most productive. We prioritize deep work and try to minimize unnecessary interruptions to give you the time needed for thorough research. You will receive direct mentorship from advisors who value the development of junior staff. We offer a structured environment where quality of thought is valued over speed or quantity. Your research will directly influence the decisions of global leaders, even if your name remains behind the scenes. We provide a competitive permanent salary and the tools you need to build a quiet, focused workspace at home. Our culture is professional and serious, but we treat everyone with warmth and respect.
JHC Consulting is committed to the long term value of the written record. We believe that clarity of writing reflects clarity of thought and that our clients deserve an intellectually honest foundation for their future. Joining our firm means contributing to a tradition of precise, signed, and permanent counsel.
