The position is part of the externally funded project “SDGnexus Network” at the Center for International Development and Environmental Research. The position is initially offered for one year with the option to extend. If desired by the applicant and compatible with the project, a working week of less than 43 hours or for less than one year may also be possible.

The is a global community of universities, research centers, and stakeholders committed to promoting the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. The SDGnexus Network is a part of the DAAD “Higher Education Excellence in Development Cooperation – exceed” program, and, as such, it aims to strengthen higher education to enable effective and innovative contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

Your tasks at a glance

  • Collect, and organize regional datasets from diverse sources, including hydrological, meteoro­logical, socio-economic, and satellite-based observations
  • Harmonize and document datasets for comparability and quality
  • Develop basic visualizations and summaries to support data analyses
  • Provide general research support to the project team

Your qualifications and competences

  • You have proven experience working with datasets (e.g., in R or Python)
  • You are familiar with hydrological, meteorological, socio-economic, and satellite-based observations
  • You communicate fluently in spoken and written English
  • You are a motivated and enthusiastic person and can work independently
