Hauptaufgaben

* Execute Emergency Responses: Provide comprehensive firefighting and emergency response services across military installations.

* Handle Extreme Hazards: Respond to severe threats including highly flammable liquids, explosives, radioactive materials, and weapons of mass destruction.

* Protect Diverse Facilities: Safeguard a wide variety of structures ranging from family housing and schools to ammunition storage and maintenance buildings.

* Conduct Rescue Operations: Perform life-saving rescue work and hazardous material containment alongside standard firefighting duties.

* Coordinate Joint Operations: Work directly with local host nation emergency responders during combined emergency situations.

* Apply International Standards: Utilize a thorough understanding of host nation fire codes, operational protocols, and equipment to ensure seamless joint operations.

Qualifikationsanforderungen


P-1: Minimum Basic Requirements:
- German certification as basic firefighter (abgeschlossene Ausbildung zum Truppmann­Teil 2 gemaB FwDV2)
- German certification as breathing apparatus wearer (air-independent) (abgeschlossene Ausbildung zum Atemschutzgeratetrager gemaB FwDv2)
- Medical certificate regarding the fitness assessment for "Group 3 respiratory protective equipment" (formerly G26.3) in accordance with DGUV and ArbMedW (Arztliche Bescheinigung Ober die Eignungsbeurteilung filr ,,Atemschutzgerate der Gruppe 3" (ehem. G26.3) gemaB DGUV und ArbMedVV)
- Lower Secondary School certificate (Hauptschulabschluss)
- Driver's license class B
- Driver's license class C desired; if not in possession, license needs to be obtained within 24 months of employment. Otherwise, the employment relationship is terminated.

P-3: Minimum Basic Requirements:
- Firefighters with completed training IAW applicable directives of the U.S. Stationing Forces (Firefighter I, II and Airport Firefighter) on airfields of the U.S. Forces and meets all requirements for P-1
- Fire Department personnel / dispatcher with Lower Secondary School certificate and completed training IAW applicable directives of the U.S. Stationing Forces with duty at a fire control center of the U.S. Army.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD certification as Firefighter I & II, Driver Operator Pumper, DOD HAZMAT operations, Host Nation SCBA certification (Ausbildung zum Atemschutzgeraeteträger gem. FwDV2), radio communicator training (Ausbildung zum Sprechfunker gem. FwDV2).

Beschäftigungsbedingungen

These are several permanent full-time positions (256 hrs./month).

* English Language Proficiency Level A2 and German Language Proficiency Level C1 required.

* Work on Holidays and Weekends as well as 24-hours shift work required.

* Applicants must be willing and able to perform on-call duty.

*Beards or sideburns in the area of the sealing lip of the respiratory mask are not permitted.

*Occasionally TDY (temporary duty) required.

* The employee commits to perform physical work, including lifting, holding, and carrying loads (up to 25kg), as part of the duties.

* The position requires successful completion of pre-employment medical examination for "Group 3 respiratory protective equipment" (formerly G26.3) in accordance with DGUV and ArbMedW, and periodic examinations thereafter. The employing organization together with medical authorities will determine the types of examinations required, considering examination requirements stipulated in German labor law.

* Must complete training in accordance with applicable directives of the Stationing Forces. If the training is failed twice, the employment relationship is considered terminated.

In accordance with § 20a paragraph 3 ifSG, proof of vaccination or recovery is required to be submitted prior to hiring and must follow the latest version of the COVID-19 Protective Measures Exception Ordinance.

* Employee is required to successfully complete additional classes, required by changed Host Nation or DoD regulations and laws to continue performing assigned tasks. This may also include certification classes to maintain and operate new acquired equipment.

* Employee may be subject to periodic (e.g. annual) medical examinations following appointment to determine fitness for continued performance of the duties of the position. Employee is required to participate in a physical fitness program as described by DOD standards.

* Heavy physical effort is required in the frequent handling of objects such as cylinders and extinguishers weighing 45 lbs or more. Employee may be required to lift/carry personnel in emergency situations.

* Duties require full use of both arms, both legs, and fingers to bend, turn, pull, crawl, kneel, and climb for such tasks as use of aerial ladders, firefighting equipment controls, arranging/connecting hoses, rappelling, operation of fire truck and all types of rescue operations, etc.

* During rescue operations, incumbent may come into contact with human blood or other potential infectious materials which may result in possible exposure to blood borne pathogens.

* Employee must remain clean-shaven to insure integrity of mask fit for breathing apparatus.

* The position requires successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination (G-26), and periodic examinations thereafter. The employing organization together with medical authorities will determine the type(s) of examination(s) required, giving due consideration to examination requirements stipulated in German labor law.
