Systems Engineer (m/f/d) - Navigation

You will join OpSTAR, an innovative ESA FutureNAV mission led by OHB and focused on next-generation Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) technologies. As part of an international consortium, you will contribute to the development, validation and implementation of optical inter-satellite link technologies and future navigation architectures, helping shape the future of satellite navigation.

Your Tasks

As a Systems Engineer with focus on Optical Technology, you will play a key role in the technical development and integration of the OpSTAR mission:

Collaborate with Architects and Subsystem Engineers on:

  • Technical system budgets (pointing, electrical power, telemetry, command, mass properties, etc.)
  • Satellite functional and performance chain (from customer requirement to verification)
  • Definition of satellite configuration and management of internal/external interfaces (, space-to-space and space-to-ground optical interfaces, ground segment, test user segment)
  • Support generation of AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Testing) and operations plans of the optical Payload and other parts
  • Support satellite testing and review test results
  • Define test specifications for system-level tests and verification
  • Prepare and participate launch and flight phases, including launcher interface and operations data
  • Contribute to technical risk management
  • Coordinate (spacecraft) validation and verification on system level
  • Flow down (mission) requirements to subsystem-level specifications
  • Ensure compliance with technical requirements

Your Qualifications

  • Successfully completed degree (Master’s, Diploma, or PhD) in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a comparable discipline
  • General knowledge of systems engineering
  • Extensive experience in the design, development, and system engineering of spacecraft, space equipment, and related subsystems
  • (Experience in requirements analysis and specification development)
    Understanding of space system architectures and interface management
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in complex collaborations
  • Creative and solution-oriented mindset
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, flexibility in addressing technical challenges, and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary environments
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
