About the role
Alpine Business Consulting is currently engaged with a major German logistics provider based in Munich that needs to overhaul its internal reporting systems. After years of fragmented data and conflicting reports, the organization is looking to establish a single source of truth for its operations. This is a junior position where you will assist our senior consultants in cleaning up data structures and building reliable business intelligence tools. Even though our client is based in Munich, this role is fully remote, and you will work with our team from wherever you are located.
A Junior BI Analyst at Alpine does not just build charts. You will learn the mechanics of how data flows from an enterprise system into a final dashboard. Our projects often involve fixing systems that were poorly implemented by others. You will help us untangle these issues, ensuring that the numbers in the system match the reality of the business. The work is steady and focused on accuracy. We prioritize quality over speed because a dashboard is only useful if the people using it can trust the data it shows every morning.

What you will do
As a junior member of the team, you will spend much of your time supporting the technical configuration of reporting environments. This is a practical role that requires focus and a willingness to verify details multiple times. You can expect to be involved in the following tasks:

• Assisting senior consultants with data mapping and cleaning to ensure information is consistent across different logistics departments.
• Building and updating reports in tools like Power BI or Tableau based on specific requirements from the finance and operations teams.
• Checking data sets for errors, duplicates, or missing entries that could lead to reporting inaccuracies.
• Creating and maintaining documentation that explains how reports are built and where the data comes from.
• Participating in team meetings to understand the specific pain points of the German logistics provider and how our solutions address them.
• Helping to test new reporting configurations before they are handed over to the client.
• Updating configuration guides to ensure the client can maintain their own systems after our engagement ends.

What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is organized and enjoys solving puzzles. Since this is an entry level role, we do not expect you to be an expert in enterprise performance management, but we do need you to have a strong interest in how data works. We value clarity and reliability over complex jargon.

• A completed degree or current studies in business, information systems, mathematics, or a related field.
• Basic familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use formulas and organize large sets of data.
• Basic understanding of SQL or an interest in learning how to query databases.
• The ability to write clear, simple English for documentation and internal emails.
• Comfort working in a fully remote environment which requires high levels of self organization.
• A detail oriented mindset, as even a small error in a data script can cause significant reporting issues.
• A preference for following established processes and documentation standards.
