Student Assistant Climate and Environment (m/f/d)

Objective/Purpose

The Student Assistant Climate and Environment will provide administrative, organizational, technical, and other work-related services to assist the climate and environment work of the Global Products, Programmes and Policy Unit.

Terms and conditions

• This is a 6 months position
• Weekly working hours: 16 to 20
• Location is at Fairtrade International offices in Bonn, Germany.
• The office language is English.
• Salary as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Wholesale and Foreign Trade Industries for North Rhine Westphalia and Fairtrade International Company Agreement on wages and salaries Group II.
• Only applicants who are enrolled in Bachelor/Masters degree programs in German universities can be considered
• Starting date: September 1st 2026

Skills required

Level of education
The position holder must be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor's/Masters degree program focused on Economics, Business Administration, Agriculture, Agronomics or related fields. The student assistant must be enrolled in a German University.

Job specific competence and personal qualities

• Excellent proficiency and experience in data analysis, systematization, and presentation, as well as digital literacy.
• Detail oriented, accurate and systemic person with strong analytical skills
• Excellent English (Working knowledge of Spanish is desirable)
• Excellent capacity to visualize data
• Customer orientation
• Motivation for Fairtrade

Principal roles and responsibilities

• Carry out research on a variety of climate and environmental topics (climate resilience, agroecology, scope 3 GHG emissions, agroforestry etc.) and help identify relevant actions for Fairtrade based on the research findings
• Support in benchmark analysis and mapping of other certification schemes or other relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain updated some already existing databases: Fairtrade commercial partners engaged in SBTi, C&E consultancies and institutions Fairtrade could potentially partner with etc.
• Support in the elaboration of communication materials showcasing Fairtrades interventions on climate and environment
• Other tasks related to the climate and environment work of Fairtrade as needed.
