As an IT Systems Administrator / IT Specialist / IT Systems Technician (f/m/d), your responsibilities will include, among other things, the planning, setup, and operation of a secure IT infrastructure.
We, the Information and Communication Technology Department, are responsible for the operation and further development of the entire IT infrastructure of the City of Mörfelden-Walldorf—from the server environment and the network to 435 workstations and 52 branch offices. We rely on modern technologies [e.g., virtualization, Matrix42 Empirum, VoIP] and adhere to the standards of the BSI IT-Grundschutz.

Your Responsibilities:
- Server Infrastructure & Storage – Planning, procurement, installation, and operation of physical/virtual server systems (Windows Server, Linux, Hyper-V), including backup and recovery
- Network Infrastructure – Planning, setup, and operation of switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi, and microwave links, including VLAN segmentation in accordance with BSI IT-Grundschutz
- Remote Office Connectivity – Independent planning and management of microwave links, Wi-Fi, and VPN connections, including site analyses
- VoIP Phone System – Administration and operation of the agency-wide telecommunications system, including user management and troubleshooting
- Software Distribution – Packaging and rollout of software via Matrix42 Empirum, including license management
- IT Security Concepts – Development of security, emergency response, and access control concepts based on BSI IT-Grundschutz
- Risk Analyses & Audits – Assessment of security needs, security audits, and consulting for administrative offices and departments
- Second-Level Support – Handling complex tickets (TOPdesk), including escalation to the appropriate external parties
- User Support – Assistance with hardware and software issues for PCs, laptops, smartphones, and printers
- IT Documentation – Maintenance of the knowledge base, manuals, and operational documentation
Your Qualifications:
- Completed vocational training as an IT specialist in the field of system integration, an IT systems electronics technician, or a comparable qualification
- Several years of professional experience in IT system administration is desirable, ideally in the areas of server and network administration, IT security, or second-level support
- In-depth knowledge of server and network infrastructure administration (Windows Server, Linux, Hyper-V)
- Experience with firewall systems, VLAN/routing/switching, and ideally experience with VPN and microwave radio technologies
- Knowledge of IT security, ideally in accordance with BSI IT-Grundschutz
- Ideally, experience working with ticket systems (e.g., TOPdesk) and in second-level support
- Experience with software packaging for software distribution is desirable, ideally with Matrix 42 or Empirum
- A structured, independent work style, as well as strong teamwork and communication skills
- Class B driver’s license
