Alpine Business Consulting works with organizations that have outgrown their reporting systems. Frequently, a company will spend a significant amount of money on a planning tool only to find that the data remains unreliable and the month end process stays slow. We fix those systems. Our consultants focus on building a single source of truth that finance teams can rely on every day. We prioritize configuration that works and documentation that helps the client remain independent after we leave.
Our partner is a Berlin based organization currently overhauling their internal reporting structures. As a Business Analyst Intern, you will work alongside our senior consultants to ensure this project provides clear, predictable results. This is a fully remote position, meaning you will contribute to this engagement from your own workspace while staying closely connected with our team through digital channels.
What You Will Do
The core of this role is supporting the translation of complex business needs into functional system settings. You will not be left to figure things out on your own. Instead, you will assist seniors who have spent years working with tools like Oracle EPM and modern analytics stacks. Your day to day work will involve various tasks aimed at ensuring the final system is clean and usable.
- Assist in the mapping of current financial processes to identify where data flow is breaking down.
- Help clean and organize large datasets to ensure the migration into new reporting tools is accurate.
- Create and update configuration guides that explain how the system has been set up for the client.
- Draft clear documentation for end users so they can navigate their new dashboards without constant support.
- Participate in testing sessions to verify that the numbers in the reports match the source data exactly.
- Support the team in preparing materials for weekly update meetings with the partner in Berlin.
- Organize project files and version histories to maintain a clear audit trail of all changes made.
What We Need From You
We are looking for someone who is organized and enjoys the logic behind how data moves through a business. Since this is an internship, we do not expect you to be an expert in enterprise software, but we do expect a high level of curiosity and a commitment to accuracy. You should be comfortable working in a remote environment where proactive communication is necessary.
- A basic understanding of business or finance principles, likely gained through your current studies or a recent degree.
- Competency with Microsoft Excel, specifically the ability to use basic formulas and organize data tables.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to explain technical steps in plain English for our documentation.
- A methodical approach to tasks, especially when it comes to checking numbers for errors.
- Reliable internet access and the ability to manage your own schedule in a remote setting.
- The ability to ask questions when a process is unclear rather than guessing at the solution.
- Fluency in English, as all our internal and client documentation is written in this language.
What The Role Offers
This position provides a practical look at how high level consulting projects are managed. You will see exactly how we take a broken system and turn it into a reliable asset for a client. We do not use client projects as a training ground for junior staff in a way that risks the outcome, so you will be learning by observing and assisting professionals who know their craft deeply.
This is a paid internship, and the compensation is competitive for the current market and your level of experience. Because we are a remote company, you will have flexibility in your working environment, avoiding a commute and focusing on the work itself. You will gain experience with enterprise grade software and learn our specific approach to fixed price, transparent consulting. We value documentation and clean configuration over flashy presentations, and you will finish this internship with a solid understanding of how to build systems that last. We focus on providing you with a predictable workload where the expectations are clear from the start of every week.
The work we do is about providing clarity to finance teams who are tired of manual work and conflicting numbers. By the end of your time with us, you will have contributed to a system that the partner in Berlin can use to make better decisions for years to come. We take pride in handing over a finished product that requires very little maintenance, and as an intern, you will be a part of making that standard a reality.
