Hauptaufgaben
• Independently performs closed and open-package inspections across all commodity types (meat, dairy, produce, etc.) to detect spoilage, temperature abuse, and pest infestations. Recommends appropriate dispositions, manages the local recall program, and places non-conforming products on "medical hold."
• Investigates customer complaints, documents non-conforming subsistence with photographic evidence, and drafts required quality reports (e.g., MEDCOM817). Additionally, drafts, maintains, and annually updates local Kaiserslautern Cold Storage (KCS) food protection Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Inspects incoming and outgoing transport conveyances and storage rooms for sanitation, tampering, and proper ambient temperatures. Reviews data recorders and digital logs to verify temperature compliance during transit, coordinating closely with transportation officers on borderline cases.
• Executes Category II (Receipt) and Category III (Surveillance) inspections, validates necessary health certificates, and ensures all products originate from DOD-approved sources. Conducts informal monthly sanitary inspections of the facility to recommend corrective actions for violations.
• Supervises four civilian inspectors, coordinates daily work schedules, approves leave, and manages administrative timesheets. Actively identifies technical skill gaps to develop, maintain, and adjust a structured food inspection training calendar while ensuring completion of mandatory DOD training.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
C-1802-6A:
MINIMUM Hauptschulabschluss (E&T Level I) PLUS 2 years of clerical experience PLUS 4 years of job related experience.
Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of clerical experience.
Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.
Definition – Clerical Experience & Job Related Experience:
Clerical Experience: Included clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc.
Job Related Experience: Experience in the same or similar line of work as the job for which considered. The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required in the position. The predominant experience must have been gained at a comparable level of difficulty to the position to be filled.
