Our Team:

The energy trading unit is responsible for optimizing assets across all markets, balancing renewables, and proprietary trading. We trade short term power algorithmically in an expanding geographical scope and have a highly technical team of veteran software engineers, leading AI experts and power trading professionals.

Career Opportunity:

Take P&L ownership of asset-backed trading built around battery energy storage, while helping shape Terra One's battery optimization framework and deep learning models from research to market. This is a senior role at the intersection of physical asset trading, quantitative strategy, and AI.

Your Tasks:

• Own P&L for asset-backed trading of battery energy storage.
• Develop trading strategies for battery energy storage systems.
• Develop battery optimization algorithms and further develop the battery optimization framework.
• Develop benchmarks for battery optimization and reporting.
• Partner with AI/ML experts to improve and expand the deep learning models underpinning these strategies.
• Design and implement algorithmic trading strategies — from mid-term quant approaches to high-frequency trading — applied to asset-backed positions.
• Collaborate with software and data engineers in a product-owner capacity on a project basis.
• Participate in day-to-day trade operations (day shift).
• Participate in on-call trading shifts during night (additionally reimbursed)

What is expected from you:

• Ownership mentality — comfortable being accountable for P&L on physical, asset-backed positions.
• Ability to translate trading and asset-optimization intuition into model and product requirements, working closely with AI and engineering teams.
• Willingness to work day shift trade operations alongside strategic/development work.
• Curiosity and rigor in continuously refining forecasts, strategies, and optimization frameworks against live market and asset performance.

Qualifications:

• Background in proprietary or quantitative trading (minimum 2 years experience), including proven P&L ownership on a non-asset-backed book — this experience is welcomed even without prior asset-backed trading exposure.
• Strong quantitative/statistical background; track record of building price forecasting models.
• Programming proficiency (e.g., Python & R) for strategy development and model collaboration.
• Familiarity with energy/power markets and battery storage optimization a plus.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineers in agile/product-owner settings.
