We are conducting a confidential search for an Automotive Software Engineering Director to lead software development for a next-generation vehicle platform from a Munich base, working hybrid. Munich's deep automotive engineering ecosystem makes this a director-level opportunity for a leader who can own software-defined vehicle architecture from embedded control units through over-the-air update infrastructure.
In this role, you will own the software architecture roadmap across embedded control units and vehicle domain controllers, ensure compliance with ISO 26262 functional safety requirements and Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process maturity across the development lifecycle, and lead adoption of AUTOSAR standards for embedded platform development. You will direct the build-out of over-the-air (OTA) update infrastructure and lead the transition toward centralised, software-defined vehicle architectures.
You will build and lead a multi-disciplinary engineering organisation spanning embedded, systems, and cloud/connectivity software teams, partner with hardware, functional safety, and cybersecurity teams on integrated vehicle release cycles, and represent software engineering in supplier and OEM technical reviews. You will also drive the roadmap for software toolchain modernisation and continuous integration for automotive-grade software.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with ISO 26262 functional safety at ASIL C/D level
- Background with AUTOSAR (Classic or Adaptive) platform development
- Experience delivering OTA update infrastructure for production vehicles
- Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) assessment or process ownership experience
- Familiarity with automotive cybersecurity standards (ISO/SAE 21434)
