We are adding a Data Analyst - Intern to our team to help us manage a large-scale project for a Munich-based industrial client. This client handles a high volume of logistics and manufacturing data that currently lives in fragmented spreadsheets and older, disconnected databases. In this role, you will help us organize this information so the client can use it to make better operational decisions. This is a full-time, fully remote position where you will work alongside our developers to turn messy data into clear, reliable internal tools.
About Pixel Systems Pixel Systems is a small, remote software agency that builds the tools teams actually use. We do not do flashy consumer apps or marketing sites. Instead, we focus on the practical stuff: admin panels, CRM integrations, and the database migrations that people usually try to avoid. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a sprawling spreadsheet with a real database or get their different software tools to finally talk to one another.
We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes before we start, we do weekly demos, and we hand over everything, including the code, the documentation, and walkthrough videos, when we are finished. We use reliable, well-tested technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain. We are a senior team of developers and designers who prefer solving real operational headaches over chasing the latest trends.
The role In this role, you will spend most of your time looking at how data flows between different systems. You will help us map fields from legacy industrial databases into modern Postgres tables. You will also assist in building internal dashboards that help the Munich-based industrial client see their inventory or production numbers in real time. This involves a mix of technical tasks and logical problem-solving.
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Cleaning up records that were entered incorrectly in legacy systems over the years.
- Writing basic SQL queries to answer specific questions from the client operations team.
- Validating data sets to ensure that migrations from spreadsheets to databases are accurate.
- Assisting with the documentation of data structures and workflows.
- Creating simple visualizations to help non-technical users understand their own data.
- Testing new reporting features before we demo them to the client.
What you bring We are looking for someone who is organized and comfortable working independently in a remote setting. You do not need years of professional experience, but you should have a solid understanding of how data is structured. If you have used Excel or Google Sheets for more than just simple lists, you are likely a good fit. We value clarity, so being able to explain what you found in a dataset without using technical jargon is very important.
You should have the following:
- Basic familiarity with spreadsheets, including formulas and data organization.
- A logical approach to solving puzzles and finding inconsistencies in lists or tables.
- Comfort working in a remote environment where communication happens through text and video calls.
- A willingness to do the unglamorous work of data cleaning and validation.
- Good written communication skills for documentation and team updates.
- A curious mindset regarding how business operations and logistics work.
Helpful background While this is an entry-level internship, there are a few tools and skills that will help you get up to speed faster. If you have some familiarity with SQL or have used databases like Postgres in a school project or a personal hobby project, that is a great start. Basic knowledge of how APIs work or some exposure to JavaScript or Python will also be useful. We use GitHub to manage our work, so knowing the basics of version control is a plus. If you have ever built a simple dashboard in a tool like Tableau or even just made complex charts in Excel, those skills will translate well to the work we do for our industrial clients.
Working at Pixel Systems Working here is different from a typical corporate internship. We have a flat structure with very little management. You will work directly with senior people who care about building software that actually works for people like warehouse managers or logistics coordinators. Because we are fully remote, we rely on clear written communication and weekly demos to stay on track. This position is paid, and the pay is competitive for the role and the market. You will get to see projects through to completion and see the immediate results your data work has on the client operations. We focus on the work, ship it, and move on to the next problem.
We pride ourselves on being a no-drama environment. We are a small team that values honesty and technical pragmatism. If you enjoy solving practical puzzles and want to learn how real-world industrial data is handled, you will find this role rewarding. We value people who are reliable and who take pride in doing a thorough job on the details that others might overlook.
