As a science brand, we are best known for our distinctive animated videos and our elaborate products around the kurzgesagt theme worlds. Through our globally successful YouTube channel with over 25 million subscribers, we aim to inspire people around the world about science and make knowledge accessible and exciting. We believe that well-researched facts are just as important as humor and good storytelling. Nothing in the universe is boring if you tell a good story.

Currently our international team consists of about 70 great colleagues. Our Research & Writing team is looking for support as:

Script Developer / Writer (all genders)

Location: Munich, Berlin or remote within Germany (preferably based in Munich)

How to make an impact - in a nutshell

• Independently develop engaging storylines and well-structured scripts for science-based videos
• Translate complex concepts into clear, accurate and engaging stories for a broad audience
• Conduct in-depth research to identify the most compelling scientific ideas, narratives and examples for each topic
• Structure and refine narratives to maximize clarity, curiosity and educational impact
• Critically evaluate scientific literature and synthesize evidence into well-supported scripts
• Fact-check content throughout the writing process, resolving inconsistencies across sources and ensuring scientific accuracy
• Create and maintain high-quality source documentation to support editorial standards
• Collaborate with scientists and subject matter experts to validate content and strengthen scientific rigor
• Champion scientific accuracy while balancing it with compelling storytelling

What you are best known for

• 2+ years of post-PhD experience creating engaging, research-driven science content or scripts outside academia
• Exceptional storytelling and writing skills, with the ability to turn complex topics into engaging, easy-to-understand narratives
• A completed PhD in a STEM discipline, preferably Physics, esp. Astrophysics
• Demonstrated track record of communicating complex scientific concepts to broad audiences through writing, scripting or other editorial work
• Able to work independently from initial idea through to polished script draft
• Excellent research skills and experience working with scientific literature
• Ability to familiarize yourself quickly and thoroughly with a wide range of topics
• Passion for science communication and educational storytelling that has a positive impact on potentially millions of people
• Fluent English skills, German is a plus
