The training as a freight forwarding clerk or clerk for freight forwarding and logistics services in railway operations combines general logistics activities with the specific requirements of rail transport.

Your tasks include
1. - Disposition and Planning
- Organization and planning of freight transport by rail
- Creation of timetables and scheduling of locomotives, carriages and personnel
- Optimization of logistics chains taking into account costs, time and environmental aspects.
2. - Customer service
- Advising customers on transport options, prices and services
- Preparation of offers and contract negotiations
- Managing major clients, especially in the planning of special transports
3. - Handling of transports
- Organization of pre- and post-carriage (e.g. by truck) for rail transport
- Monitoring of transport processes and ensuring adherence to delivery dates.
- Handling of complaints and claims
4. - Documentation and Administration
- Preparation and verification of freight and customs documents
- Handling of hazardous goods transports and compliance with legal requirements
- Recording and billing of transport services
5. - Knowledge of the railway infrastructure
- Understanding of the operation of marshalling yards and loading terminals
- Coordination with service facilities such as sidings and refueling stations
- Consideration of track capacity and rail infrastructure
6. - Legal framework
- Providing knowledge about railway law and international agreements (e.g. CIM/COTIF)
- Compliance with safety and environmental protection regulations in railway operations
7. - Technical understanding
- Basic knowledge of wagon types, load securing and loading regulations
- Cooperation with train inspectors and train drivers
8. - Coordination with partners
- Cooperation with other modes of transport (e.g. truck, ship, airplane) in multimodal transport chains
- Coordination with international partners in cross-border transport.
9. - IT-supported processes
- Use of scheduling and billing systems (e.g. SAP, Dispolino)
- Application of IT solutions for monitoring transports (e.g. telematics, GPS)
