We are looking for a Software Developer (f/m/d) to join our Simatic AX project. In this role, you will be instrumental in driving the evolution of Software Defined Automation and shaping the future of industrial automation through innovative technologies and solutions, leveraging OPC UA as the core open standard for IT/OT integration and cross-vendor machine-to-machine communication.

You’ll make an impact by

• Designing and developing scalable, high-performance OPC UA components for the innovative SIMATIC AX Runtime and Engineering platform.
• Implementing and optimizing OPC UA as the core standard for cross-vendor communication, driving the convergence of IT and OT.
• Proactively taking ownership of technical topics and driving them from concept to production-ready code.
• Leveraging modern development workflows, including AI-supported coding, to increase efficiency and code quality.
• Collaborating closely within a cross-functional, agile team to deliver reliable and secure industrial automation solutions.
• Advancing test automation and CI/CD pipelines to ensure the highest standards of software excellence.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience & Skills:
• First years of professional experience in software development within agile environments (Scrum, Kanban).
• C++ Expert: Strong proficiency in Modern C++ and a solid understanding of compiler toolchains (compilation, linking, build processes).
• OPC UA Specialist: Solid knowledge of the OPC UA standard and its application in industrial environments.
• Modern Tooling: Hands-on experience with CMake, Git, and automating workflows via CI/CD platforms.
• Tech-Forward: Openness to and experience with AI-supported coding / agentic coding tools.
• Ways of working:
• A proactive "can-do" attitude.
• A strong team player.
• Flexibility to adapt to new technologies.
• Languages: Fluent in English (written and spoken); German language skills are a plus.
