Technical Delivery Lead - Engineering Lead

About the Role

Remote, hands-on leadership coordinating developers, project leads and external partners across multiple software projects.

Technically credible delivery leadership from planning through production; administrative project management alone is insufficient.

Responsibilities

• Own priorities, delivery plans, deadlines, capacity, dependencies, resources and early risk escalation.
• Translate business needs into clear technical tasks and acceptance criteria.
• Challenge architecture, estimates and decisions; resolve blockers and improve delivery processes.
• Review code and test quality and coordinate frontend/backend work, releases and production incidents.
• Report progress clearly, distinguishing completed implementation, verified testing and actual operational acceptance.
• Explain technical matters to non-technical management; hold teams accountable for quality and commitments.

Essential Experience

• Minimum 6 years in software development, technical delivery or technology operations, with a genuine hands-on software/systems background.
• Direct leadership of developers or project leads across several simultaneous technical projects.
• Proven delivery of live business systems: planning, development, testing, release and ongoing support.
• Strong web, e-commerce or ERP expertise: databases, APIs, integrations, cloud, security, testing and production troubleshooting.
• Deep expertise: Node.js, TypeScript, React, modern web architecture, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Docker and cloud production systems.
• Equivalent technologies accepted; strong engineering fundamentals and fast learning required.

Preferred Experience

• Express.js, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Prisma or similar database tools, Redis/BullMQ or similar job queues.
• Linux, Nginx, deployment pipelines, monitoring, Jest/Vitest/React Testing Library, integration testing and code review.
• Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, Amazon, eBay, payment services, supplier APIs, CSV/XML feeds.
• Automation and AI projects, OpenAI or comparable AI services, automated data workflows and vector search.
• Remote teams/external development partners; Python, Flask, Firebase, Vite, Netlify and PHP/WordPress.

Working Hours, Paid Evaluation Period and Long-Term Opportunity

This is a full-time, remote position with 40 working hours per week. We are looking for someone interested in a long-term collaboration.

The role starts with a two-month paid evaluation period. This period gives both sides the opportunity to assess whether the role, working methods and expectations are a good fit for a long-term collaboration.

During this period, you will become familiar with our software applications, existing systems, development processes and team, while demonstrating your technical delivery and engineering leadership skills through practical work. We will assess your technical judgement, delivery planning, coordination of developers and project leads, code and test review, independent problem-solving, reliability, communication, delivery, and ability to thoroughly validate your own work and the teams results.

During this two-month evaluation period, the pay is USD 2 per hour worked.

After a successful evaluation, compensation will be reviewed and adjusted based on demonstrated performance, experience and the responsibilities you take on. Strong performance may lead to an earlier compensation review.

Hubstaff is required for tracking working time throughout the collaboration. The tracking scope and monitoring settings will be explained before you start.
