Your role

Technological design and further development of active magnetic bearing systems for high-speed rotors

  • Definition, specification, and evaluation of requirements for sensors, power electronics, real-time systems, and control functions
  • Technical coordination and evaluation of external development partners in the fields of electronics and software development
  • Development and validation of system models to describe the dynamic behavior of rotors, magnetic bearings, sensors, and control systems
  • Analysis and optimization of the stability and robustness of mechatronic systems
  • Evaluation of sensor, actuator, and electronics concepts with regard to performance, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Support of electromagnetic actuator and sensor design using analytical methods and numerical simulations (e.g., ANSYS Maxwell, FEMM)
  • Definition, execution, and evaluation of laboratory tests to verify functional hypotheses and system requirements
  • Technical support in the qualification of active magnetic bearing systems and the transfer of new technologies into series production
  • Close collaboration with experts in rotor dynamics, mechanics, testing, electronics, and software development, as well as with external partners and research institutions

To succeed, you will need

  • Successfully completed university degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Engineering, Physics, or a comparable field, ideally with a PhD
  • In-depth understanding of mechatronic systems and their dynamic behavior
  • Strong expertise in several of the following areas: Active Magnetic Bearings, Control Engineering and Systems Theory, Sensors and Signal Processing, Power Electronics, Real-Time Systems, Electromagnetic Actuators, High-Dynamic Electric Drives
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis of dynamic systems
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and ideally ANSYS Maxwell, FEMM, or comparable simulation tools
  • Ability to understand and evaluate technical relationships across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Enthusiasm for working on complex interdisciplinary challenges in the field of highly dynamic precision systems
  • Strong analytical skills and a scientific, methodical approach to problem-solving
  • High level of responsibility, with an independent and structured working style
  • Fluent English language skills; German language skills are desirable

In return, we offer

  • Culture of trust and accountability
  • Lifelong learning and career growth
  • Innovation powered by people
  • Comprehensive compensation and benefits
  • Health and well-being
