Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) Production Platforms

Your mission

• You build and evolve the operations platform and shopfloor tablet app for goods receipt, inventory and outbound logistics.
• You work with operations to turn an initial request into a clear, proportionate scope, and you recommend holding or declining work when the expected value does not justify the effort.
• You steer our AI development setup and assess the agent’s output carefully and bring your own judgment to decisions about architecture and correctness.
• You move between backend and frontend development: Python with FastAPI and async SQLModel on PostgreSQL, alongside React and TypeScript.
• You integrate the platform with SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Entra ID and shopfloor label printers.
• As the platform expands, you strengthen the practices that keep it maintainable. Automated testing, observability and deployment automation are already in place.
• You make architectural choices, capture the reasoning in accessible documentation and contribute thoughtful feedback in code reviews.

Your profile

• You have built software for production use and supported it after release.
• You have practical experience building Python services with an asynchronous web framework, modelling relational data and managing database migrations.
• React and TypeScript are part of your hands-on toolkit, and you are comfortable building complete user interfaces.
• You use Docker and CI in your daily development work and you are comfortable working with Linux servers. Experience with configuration management, reverse proxies and networking is an advantage.
• You can assess AI-generated code and recommendations on their technical merits and make engineering decisions based on your own technical judgment.
• You can turn an unclear operational need into a specific software requirement and discuss it directly with production colleagues.
• You communicate confidently and fluently in German and English, including technical discussions with colleagues on site.
• Experience in production, logistics or the process industry is a strong plus.

About us

cylib is a German battery recycling company that emerged from research at RWTH Aachen University in 2022. With an integrated network of sites, we bring together research and development at our headquarters in Aachen, dismantling and mechanical processing in Wernberg-Köblitz, and hydrometallurgical processing in Dormagen (in ramp-up). Our goal: building a resilient European value chain through the recovery of high-quality materials for sustainable batteries.

With our innovative OLiC technology (Optimized Lithium and Graphite Recovery), we recover over 90% of the contained raw materials – with a CO2 footprint that is 80% lower than conventional processes. Towards the realization of a true circular economy in the European market.
