Finance Manager / Financial Controller

A Japanese manufacturing company in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main area is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager / Financial Controller to become a key in-house contact for its accounting and finance activities.

The ideal candidate should have solid practical accounting experience, good knowledge of German HGB accounting, and the flexibility to work independently in a small, international organisation. Previous people management or finance function set-up experience is not required.

Main Responsibilities

• Gradually bring day-to-day accounting and finance responsibilities in-house while coordinating with external accounting and tax advisers
• Handle monthly and annual closing activities under HGB, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and provisions
• Oversee cash management, cash flow forecasting, payments, and working capital
• Prepare budgets, rolling forecasts, financial reports, and budget-versus-actual analyses
• Support the Managing Director with financial planning, controlling, and management reporting
• Maintain and improve accounting procedures, financial processes, and internal controls
• Work alongside the existing accounting colleague and take on responsibilities delegated by the Managing Director

Ideal Candidate

• Solid hands-on accounting experience in a German business environment; controlling experience is advantageous
• Good knowledge of HGB and ideally the ability to manage monthly and annual closing activities independently
• Experience in cash flow management, budgeting, financial forecasting, and management reporting
• Willingness to take ownership of a broad finance remit; prior people management or in-house finance set-up experience is not required
• Business level in German and English communication skills; English is the main working language
• Flexible, proactive, and comfortable working hands-on in a small, evolving organisation
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues from diverse international backgrounds

Conditions

• Location : Frankfurt Rhine-Main area, Germany

• Salary : €80,000–€90,000 per annum depending on experience
• Job Type : permanent, full-time
• Working Hours : 9 : 00–17 : 00
