Task Description

As a specialist data center installation at our modern locations in Biere and Magdeburg, you ensure the physical foundation of our IT services. In this responsible role, you will professionally install, rack mount and structured cabling (copper and fiber optic) in strict compliance with relevant data center standards (such as DIN EN 50600 and EN 50173/174). Your main tasks:

• Hardware rollout & rack assembly: Planning, control and monitoring of the professional installation, conversion and dismantling of server, storage and network components in data center racks.
• Structured cabling: Professional installation, patching and measurement of copper and fiber optic connections (LWL) in accordance with specified standards.
• Infrastructure & DCIM: Maintain and document all changes and asset information in modern DCIM tools (Data Center Infrastructure Management).
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Independent fault analysis at hardware level as well as assistance with troubleshooting and component replacement.
• Standards & Quality Standards: Ensuring compliance with applicable security, quality and data center standards to ensure highly available operations.
• Project management: planning and implementation of customer projects, expansion and conversion of IT rooms

Profile

• Experience in a data center environment: Several years (3-5 years) of practice in modern data center infrastructures and knowledge of relevant standards (e.g. EN 50600, EN 50173).
• Hardware installation & rack assembly: Profound routine in the professional installation, conversion and dismantling of server, storage and network components.
• Structured cabling: Safe use of copper and fiber optic cabling techniques, including patching and measurements.
• DCIM & documentation experience: Safe use of DCIM tools for seamless technical documentation of racks and cabling routes.
• Failure analysis & troubleshooting: Analytical procedure for hardware faults and rapid resolution of technical problems.
• Safety & quality awareness: Reliable compliance with strict security, access and quality standards in data center operations.
• Languages & commitment: Good German and English skills as well as a willingness to work in a team and flexible shift models.

That rounds off your profile

• Data center infrastructure certifications (e.g. CDCP, DCOM) or vendor-specific hardware certifications
• In-depth knowledge of relevant norms and standards (e.g. EN 50600, EN 50173, ISO/IEC 27001)
• Experience working with specific DCIM systems and asset management tools
• Basic knowledge of air-conditioning technology, power supply (USV/NEA) and fire protection in data center environments
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (e.g. incident and change management)
