Join Roche, where every voice matters. The Position Description : We are seeking a motivated student to support our sustainable production roadmap in Diagnostics through an internship, with the option to extend into a Master Thesis.

The primary focus will be on CO2 carbon accounting, transitioning from a spend-based accounting method to a volume-based accounting method.

This transition will enhance decision-making for CO2 reduction projects.

The role is part of a matrix organization encompassing Global and Local Operations, Global Engineering, and Procurement. Responsibilities :

  • Extract baseline CO2 footprint data for Diagnostics Production using Roche’s global spend-based scope 3 data
  • Conduct research and develop a volume-based CO2 accounting model, utilizing the Ecoinvent database or similar resources
  • Integrate existing volume-based LCA data into a comprehensive volume-based database
  • Evaluate CO2 versus Ecobalance as an output KPI
  • Apply Roche LCA templates for End-to-End (E2E) Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for production processes, including purchased raw materials and production assets
  • Collaborate with other students working on related aspects of the same program, as well as with Roche colleagues involved in related projects such as the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTI)
  • Analyze data to identify the most significant levers for reducing the carbon footprint and improving environmental sustainability in current and future projects
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations
  • Develop best practices for future data assessment and reporting Requirements :
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Data Science, or a related field
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting and Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs)
  • Understanding of healthcare manufacturing processes is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) Advantages :
