Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead Regional Function : Oversee and drive export control and sanctions compliance activities across the region, fostering a strong culture of compliance and accountability
- Advisor to Leadership : Serve as the key legal and compliance advisor to executive management. Proactively communicate regulatory developments and provide strategic guidance on export controls, embargoes, and sanctions
- Policy & Decision Authority : Develop and implement regional export control and sanctions strategies in line with global policies. Hold final decision-making authority in the region on these matters
- Regulatory Change Management : Monitor, anticipate, and implement regulatory changes, ensuring regional business adaptation to evolving requirements
- Risk Management : Identify and assess compliance risks; propose and oversee mitigation strategies. Advise leadership on risk exposure
- External Liaison : Represent the organization to regulators, government agencies, and industry groups regarding export control and sanctions
- Incident Management : Lead regulatory investigations, disclosures, and corrective actions as needed
- Licensing Oversight : Manage export license applications, approvals, and recordkeeping with relevant authorities
- Training & Awareness : Deliver targeted training programs and drive ongoing awareness initiatives throughout the region
- Continuous Improvement : Regularly review and enhance processes and policies, leveraging best practices and new technologies
- Stakeholder Collaboration : Work closely with internal partners, including legal, compliance, customs, and business units, to enable compliant and efficient international operations
Your Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant disciplineMinimum of 8–10 years’ hands-on experience in export control and sanctions complianceDemonstrated advancement and leadership success in the export control field, with experience advising executives on compliance issues and best practicesProven ability to influence, develop, and implement policies and strategies within complex matrix organizationsStrong analytical, management, and decision-making skills, with the authority and assertiveness to lead confidentlyAbility to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teamsIn-depth knowledge of EU and US re-export control compliance and regulationsRecognized subject matter expert in export control compliance management systemsExtensive experience defining and deploying export control policies, compliance programs, manuals, and processesProficient in using export control software for compliance monitoring and managementExcellent command of English and German, both spoken and written, enabling clear and effective communication in an international settingProficiency with the MS Office suite for efficient task management and reportingAs a global company with employees around the world, it is important to us that we treat each other with respect and value all ideas and perspectives.
