• For the Infrastructure department of the Communication and Information Center (kiz) we are looking for a
• Computer scientist in the area of backup (m / f / d)

• The Infrastructure department is responsible for the entire network infrastructure, the provision of basic IT equipment, a high-performance computing cluster and other system-related services provided by a modern IT center.

Your profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a technical subject and at least three years of practical work experience
• In-depth knowledge of strategies and technologies for a backup / restore at enterprise level, a nationwide network, UNIX operating systems, university-internal system landscapes and network technologies (in particular IPv4, IPv6, VLAN, Ethernet)
• Detailed knowledge of the Solaris & Linux operating systems used, in service management according to ITIL, a ticket system (KIX would be desirable) and the BSI IT-Grundschutz building blocks relevant to the operation of the backup service
• Very good written and spoken German language skills
• Strong teamwork skills, ability to work under pressure, independent working style and strong communication skills

Your tasks

• Operation, maintenance and further development of the backup service based on the Bacula software
• Coordination, operation and further development of the Bacula backup network
• Ensuring an appropriate level of protection of the entire backup system (incl. server, HD storage, tape library) against cyber attacks (especially ransomware) and failures due to hardware and / or software problems
• 2nd level support
• Training of administrators
• Management of the necessary maintenance and repair work
• Collaboration in the operation of the "Printing in the network" service based on the Papercut software
