German Legal Counsel
Location : choice of location between London, Berlin, or Frankfurt
Type of employment : Part Time at 20-25 hrs per week

The organisation is committed to further extending its projects and becoming a trusted entity for banks, financial advisors, and FinTech platforms, ensuring comprehensive financial solutions and exceptional client support.
We are currently recruiting for a part time German Legal Counsel to join their team, to provide support on business policies and people operations, and negotiate partnerships and contracts.
The Role and Responsibilities
- Provide advisory in areas such as lending propositions (product development), customer acquisition, customer success, marketing, and human resources.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with partners, customers, and suppliers, offering practical and commercial guidance.
- Implement improvements to streamline legal processes, including the development and maintenance of decision frameworks for partner and customer acquisition agreements.
- Enhance and uphold the company's GDPR policies and procedures for key stakeholders, including customers, employees, and partners.
- Oversee and manage external legal counsel, and handle the legal budget with guidance.
- Address regulatory matters related to licensing for lending to and collecting from customers in Germany, ensuring product compliance with all aspects of German law.
- Assist with corporate housekeeping, managing constitutional documents, statutory books, and ongoing filing requirements for our German entities.
- Advise, mentor, and train other legal team members in your areas of expertise.
Your Profile and Qualifications
- You are an experienced lawyer from Germany.
- Proficient in both German and English- minimum C1 in both Languages.
- Skilled in handling commercial contracts, partnerships, broker agreements, GDPR, and data protection laws, with a strong background in creating compliance policies
- You have worked in-house within the fintech or finance sectors.
- You are driven by delivering high-quality legal work within deadlines, and have a humble, respectful, and optimistic outlook on your work even in the face of challenges.
- Knowledge of business lending and German regulations related to it is beneficial.
