OperationsDirector (m / w / d)

  • The OperationsDirector coordinates the day to day activities within theoperation, incorporating manufacturing engineering, planning andscheduling, quality, production anddespatch.
  • As the senior manager on site, theOperations Director is regarded as site landlord and takes a leadrole in achieving volume / profit targets, and high levels ofcustomer service.
  • Effective management ofcompany assets and resources to ensure that planned financial goalsare achieved.
  • Design and implementmanufacturing systems and strategies in order to provide highestlevels of customer service and support, and in line with thecorporate strategic approach.
  • Train and developall operations staff using principles of continuousimprovement.
  • Develop systems to meet qualityrequirements of externally accredited standards (eg. ISO9000 / QS,TS16949).
  • Take a lead role in capitalexpenditure requests for the site and in annual and strategicplanning.
  • Ensure maximum utilization of companyassets (buildings, spares, machine tools and equipment, people andmaterials).
  • Lead the cost reductionprocess.
  • Work with Marketing and Engineeringfunctions to ensure the smooth and timely development of newproducts and the problem free transition toproduction.
  • Transport and logisticsimplementation.
  • The position is joint Prokuristat the site and reports to the Managing DirectorEurope.
  • He will be responsible for 7 directreports and 240 indirect reports.
  • Soundeducation - to degree level, must be in a technical / engineeringrelating discipline.
  • Proven track record in amanufacturing environment - 5 years plus in a seniorrole.
  • Understanding financial issues (reportingsystems and managementaccounting).
  • Understanding of qualityrequirements in "blue chip" businesses, ideally within automotiveenvironment.
  • Familiar with TQMprogrammes.
  • Ideal background : "blue chip" -companies.
  • Excellent leadership andman-management skills.
  • Fluency in English andGerman are a must.
  • Excellent communicationsskills.
  • Results and improvementdriven.
  • Experience of Anglo-Saxon businessenvironment.
  • Experience of non-unionisedculture would be ideal.
  • Regular extensivetravel will be required.
