The Director of Airframe isleading the engineering of the core competence teams “StructureAnalysis”, “Design” and “Material & Processes”. Theresponsibility is to build the competencies and the resources tosecure the deliverables of the Airframe unit. This includesdefining the methods, processes and tools required to execute theactivities along the product life cycle from early research andconcepts phases, program development and continuous productsupport.

The position responsibility includes theprocesses and delegations compliant with the design organizationfor the relevant competencies within Airframe. The Director ofAirframe Core Competence Unit is responsible for strategicdecisions to ensure future benchmark positioning concerningcompetencies, working practices (such as agile and lean approaches)and the continuous assessment of trends and capabilitiesimprovements (e.g. end to enddigitalization).

The main tasks andresponsibilities are :

  • Ramp up therequired airframe competencies and capabilities according defineddeliverables and agreed head count.
  • Leadingdisciplinary an airframe engineering with departments and teamsincluding competence management and trainingconcept.
  • Implement program and projectsrequirements into a resource planning including core and non-coreactivities and a viable sub-contractingpolicy.
  • Ensure adequate numbers of signatorycandidates are trained and prepared for designdelegation.
  • Implement and support companystrategy with proper positioning of the airframe engineeringdetermine future needs andtrends.

Das bringen Siemit :

  • Educated Engineering degree (BAEng / Sc, MA Eng / Sc) in aeronautics / aviation ormechanical.
  • 10+ years professional experiencein relevant fields of aircraft development and productrequirements.
  • Wide proficiency of airframerequirements, design criteria, materials, methods andtools.
  • New product development experience of atleast one new aircraft program.
  • Provenleadership experience and skill in managing an organisation withdepartments.
  • Strong communication andleadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize,manage and execute multiple simultaneoustasks.
  • Assertive, pro-active, innovative andcreative.
  • Very good English language skills,German language is a plus.
