Global technology niche market leader – 40million euros sales

Theeconomically sound German-based group is a manufacturer andsupplier of mission-critical electrical components and systems witha strong global presence. It holds several registered patents. In ahighly concentrated niche market with strong barriers of marketentry, it is the clear leader. With approx. 135 employees, itgenerates annual sales of 40 million euros, with Asia and the USbeing the most important markets. The group serves a broadblue-chip customer base in a wide range of application areas, e.g.chemistry, semiconductor production, environmental technology, foodprocessing, MedTech.

Due to its superiorproduction capacity, the company can handle orders from the largestcustomers worldwide. Long-standing relationships with its suppliersallow for high product availability and short lead time forcustomers. Also, the company has the broadest distribution networkand service capabilities in the market. It has retained a verypersonal, familiar culture. Staff turnover is low. The group enjoysan excellent reputation worldwide for its technicalexpertise.

However, the commercialisation of itsproducts, engineering and consulting services has not always beenat the forefront. Pride was more on innovation, R&D and thevariety of possible applications of the technologies. Therefore, itis crucial to build a clear sales strategy combined with a salesapproach more balanced between the current inbound-driven andoutbound-based. To avoid working on too many opportunities at thesame time, addressable application markets need to be prioritisedand developed to maturity, with lighthouse customers or partnersbeing acquired.

Next to this, the sales functionneeds to be further developed, e.g. in strategic pricing, contractand risk management, and by introducing a CRM system. Throughmarketing and with the already existing substantial ESG reportingas a reference, the group’s positioning as an impact company shouldbe strengthened. Overall, the group operates in numerous highlyattractive, cutting-edge, often decarbonisation- andsustainability-orientated markets and has many valid levers forincreasing sales and profits. As the CEO is foreseeably retiring,his successor needs to be recruited.

You report to theAdvisory Board. Together with the Leadership Team, you initiate,manage, support and track the growth trajectory along the entirevalue-chain, based on the agreed strategy. You foster a culture ofcontinuous improvement across all entities with a focus onentrepreneurial action, cross-functional cooperation and therealization of group synergies. You drive commercial focus,co-supervise key accounts, accelerate the aftermarket & sparepart business and are present on trade fairs / symposiums. You holdsales and marketing accountable to order intake metrics and agreedsales growth along targeted verticals. You harmonize the brandingacross the group, improve the website and social media to have aclear offering for each target end-market highlighting USP andvalue proposition for the particular application.
