To strengthen our risk management framework and ensure a secure and compliant environment, we are currently seeking a Risk Officer to oversee risk assessment, mitigation, and compliance within the  Laboratoire National de Santé (LNS) .

About the Laboratoire national de santé

The « Laboratoire national de santé » (LNS) is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Security in Luxembourg. As a multidisciplinary institute, it is made up of four diagnostic departments in the fields of medical biology, microbiology, forensic medicine and health protection. It also houses two national centers, one in the field of Pathology and the other in the field of Genetics. All activities are supported by support services forming the administrative and financial department.

The mission of the LNS is to develop analytical and scientific expertise related to the prevention, diagnosis and monitoring of human diseases and to ensure the role of a national control or reference laboratory as well as to carry out forensic tasks. The institution also contributes to the development, harmonization and promotion of technical laboratory methods in close collaboration with local and international analytical laboratories. Within the scope of its responsibilities, the LNS is also leading research and teaching activities in collaboration with partners in Luxembourg and abroad.

With its modern infrastructure in line with the recent evolution of medical and analytical sciences, the LNS is an ambitious laboratory with innovative projects that increase its expertise in public health.

YOUR MISSIONS

As a Risk Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the LNS’s risk management strategy, ensuring compliance with  national regulations , and fostering a culture of  risk awareness  within the institution.

Reporting to the Director, you will collaborate closely with operational teams, quality management and external stakeholders to :

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to laboratory operations and administrative functions;
  • Develop and implement risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks;
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and best practices in risk management;
  • Conduct risk assessments, prepare reports, and provide recommendations for risk mitigation;
  • Advise the Direction on emerging risks and propose proactive mitigation strategies;
  • Provide  risk reports and recommendations  to support  decision-making and long-term institutional sustainability ;
  • Support the implementation of emergency preparedness and business continuity plans to safeguard laboratory operations;
  • Support change management initiatives and contribute to continuous process improvement;
  • Provide risk training and awareness programs for staff members;
  • Contribute to internal and external audits, ensuring appropriate follow-up on findings;
  • Collaborate with external partners, including  hospitals, research institutions, and governmental agencies,  to align LNS risk management strategies with  national and international best practices .

The above list is not exhaustive and further tasks could be added according to the needs of the service.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Master degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • At least 5 years of experience in risk management, compliance, preferably within the healthcare sector, laboratory, pharmaceutical or public sector;
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, regulatory compliance, and quality management systems;
  • Experience in implementing risk frameworks and working within ISO standards (e.g., ISO 15189, ISO 9001) or similar regulatory environments is an asset;
  • You are a dynamic hands-on contributor with excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments;
  • You are well-organized, adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic environment;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills along with strong written abilities;
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with discretion;
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office;
  • Fluency in both English and French is mandatory (oral and written), German and Luxembourgish will be considered as an asset.
