We are searching for an experienced Data Protection Officer to join our client in Germany. In this position you will offer advisory relating to German Data Protection Law, and carry out audit assessments to ensure compliance with these regulations.

Reports to the Head of Data Protection for Germany

Your Responsibilities :

  • As a Data Protection Officer (DPO), you will support entities in the Energy Infrastructure sector with legal matters relating to data protection such as GDPR and privacy laws.
  • Respond to subject access requests and review data protection agreements, in accordance with German Data Protection Law.
  • Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and take responsibility for documenting compliance reports.
  • Regular travel to company locations will be required to build relationships with local stakeholders and perform audits.
  • Collaborate closely with the Privacy Team on your duties.

Your Profile :

  • Fluency in both English and German.
  • Proven experience in data protection, including the ability to independently advise stakeholders and conduct assessment.
  • A minimum of 5 years' professional experience in data protection.
  • Required certifications : CIPP / E, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent certifications from other recognised authorities.
  • Strong understanding of laws such as GDPR and BDSG, as well as ISO standards and BSI Basic Protection Requirements for data protection.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% to various locations across Germany.
  • A law degree or legal qualification is preferred.
