POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER – Research Associate (m / f / d)
INSTITUTE FOR COMPUTATIONAL AND CONSTRUCTION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF STUTTGART | AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE DATE | E13 / 14 TVL
The Institute for Computational Design and Construction at the University of Stuttgart invites applications for an Open Position as Postdoctoral researcher in the context of the EU EIC Project “ArchiBioFoam” and the Cluster of Excellence “Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture (IntCDC)”.
The EU Research Project “ArchiBioFoam” , funded by the European Union as part of Horizon Europe’s EIC Pathfinder program, integrates expertise from biobased materials science, computational metamaterial design, and robotic additive manufacturing through an international collaboration with Aalto University and University of Milan. The project aims to create functionally graded, loadbearing and adaptively shape-changing material systems for architecture through the additive fabrication of novel biofoam materials in functionalized structures.
Applicants are expected to have a strong architectural, technical or computer science doctoral degree, as well as experience in conducting research in the field of computational design and additive manufacturing. Experience in 4D-printing / material programming is advantageous. We also expect a high level of independence, commitment, team spirit and interest in interdisciplinary research. Excellent English language skills are required.
Responsibilities of the position include :
The expected start date is as soon as possible, but can be arranged to meet individual requirements. Applications (including CV, statement of interest, research portfolio, publication samples, and a list of computational design and additive manufacturing skills with indicated proficiency) should be submitted as one PDF-file (maximum file size strictly 10 MB) to : .
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
The initial application deadline is 15th of August 2024.
The Institute for Computational Design and Construction offers the opportunity to work with one of the leading teams in computational design, fabrication and construction research.
