We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to join our growing team in Germany. The successful candidate will join the team of Steelcase in Germany North (Hamburg Area).

As a result, the preferred place of residence is in the Hamburg area. In a second step, the responsibility for more dealers outside of the Hamburg region will eventually grow.

We are seeking an exceptional team player who exemplifies the hallmarks of a top-performing BDM and is eager to collaborate with colleagues and customers nationally and internationally.

As part of our Accelerate strategy, we aim to cultivate unparalleled partnerships with our dealers. Our BDM plays a pivotal role in achieving this goal.

What You Will Be Doing :

  • Focus on and take accountability for growing business across our categories.
  • Close priority sales opportunities with our dealer, focusing primarily on "must-win" opportunities for the region.
  • Work strategically with business partners within Steelcase and act as a local relay.
  • Identify office furniture opportunities, develop the strategy to win the opportunity, and execute it.
  • Assist in finding opportunities to support growth in dealer capabilities.
  • Handle involvement of specialists to strengthen dealer capabilities. and support specific opportunities;
  • Maintains Salesforce funnel;
  • For the Business Development Manager, the key responsibilities and objectives are to identify and win new business opportunities using a variety of resources, including corporately provided leads, existing relationships, and new relationships with various influencers;
  • Prospecting for potential customers will be done using various direct methods, like calling and face-to-face meetings, and indirect methods, such as networking through key industry contacts and trade organizations.

About You :

Required Skills and Competencies :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and / or experience
  • Minimum of 5 years sales experience in high-performing sales and / or sales-related roles
  • Fluent German & English
  • You are curious, have a positive can-do mindset and solution-oriented work style
  • You are empathic, and experienced in building people-centric, high-performing hybrid work environments
  • You are a team player and work in close collaboration with team colleagues.
  • You can build long-term working relationships with a diverse range of functions within customers’ organizations, including people and culture, purchasing, facility management, real estate, and other relevant partners and dealers.
  • You demonstrate autonomy, adaptability, and We value commitment, dedication, and team-playing qualities.
  • We seek candidates with excellent written and verbal presentation and communication skills.
  • We require proficiency in time management and organization.
  • We look for candidates who are proficient in IT tools, including CRM, Outlook calendar, tablets, smartphones, and confidence in interacting via Teams / Zoom webinars, video applications, and business applications.
  • We require willingness to travel regularly to clients / dealers within the region (Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Niedersachsen and Bremen)

Preferred Skills and Competencies :

  • Expert understanding of the contract furniture industry
  • Experience in a consultative B2B & B2C, solutions-based sales or closely related roles
  • Knowledge of new work, leadership, new ways of learning, change management / cultural transformation and motivation to keep up with new trends
  • Broad and comprehensive knowledge of the furniture industry, Steelcase business / sales philosophy is a plus
