Job Title : HSE Manager

Location : Hamburg, Germany

ABOUT THE ROLE :

Turner Lovell are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Manager to oversee health, safety, and environmental (HSE) projects. The successful candidate will integrate HSE management into project planning and execution, collaborating closely with the Project Management team. This role involves acting as a liaison between clients and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with client requirements and relevant regulations.

Our client, is a $5billion global EPCI focused on the delivery of transmission, distribution and offshore generation. They also provide engineering services, including the installation and commissioning of high-voltage and submarine cabling projects. This role would suit someone who wants to grow with the business, and is interested in developing, improving and developing their career.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Key Responsibilities :

  • Project Integration and Ownership : Embed HSE requirements into project plans and schedules. Manage HSE projects, ensuring all client requirements are met.
  • Client and Subcontractor Liaison : Serve as the main point of contact between clients and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and adherence to project specifications. In addition, HSE manager shall flexibly communicate with counter parts who are sitting at HQ, Plants, South Korea.
  • Policy Development : Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Risk Management and Assessments : Identify and mitigate potential hazards, including subcontractor risks in cabling and construction projects. Lead HAZID and HAZOP studies, documenting and communicating findings. Collaborate with teams to implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure safety compliance.
  • Regulatory Compliance : Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international HSE regulations and standards which are inclusive for LSC HQ’s HSE Policy.
  • Training : Develop and conduct training programs to educate project teams on safety protocols, quality standards, and environmental responsibilities.
  • Incident Investigation : Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental breaches, implementing corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Continuous Improvement : Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety and environmental performance, using data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Audits and Inspections : Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess HSE compliance, prepare reports on findings, and communicate results to project management, employees, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Onsite Competence : Maintain a strong on-site presence to assist site management and address issues proactively.
  • Subcontractor Oversight : Ensure subcontractors submit suitable Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) and meet quality demands. Work with subcontractors to ensure high performance and compliance with safety standards.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Certification in German “Occupational Safety Practices” and SiGeKo certification would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in English and German (spoken and written).
  • Strong understanding of local, state, federal, and international HSE regulations and standards relevant to the industry.
  • Previous experience in leading HSE practices in projects for major EPCI, energy, or other complex construction types of projects.
  • Experience in developing, updating, and communicating HSE policies and procedures across large complex EPC infrastructure.
  • Competence in identifying and solving engineering problems.
  • Ability to articulate responsibilities and safety requirements clearly.
  • Ability to recognize cultural diversity for maintaining communications with the project team.
