Coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects and ensures that objectives are met and within budget. Prepares engineering documents including cost estimates, appropriation requests, project schedules, design specifications, instruction specifications, purchase requisitions, operating manuals, and technical reports. This is the highest level individual contributor role. This is a generic benchmark for engineers that cannot be matched to Experts in the following sub-families : Calibration, Chemical, Design, Electrical, Electronics, Facility / Maintenance, Industrial, Instrumentation and Control, Mechanical, Process, Environmental, or Nuclear.
The Lab engineer will be responsible for the testing and validation of New Product Development Projects, VAVE projects in line with MFT defined process. The lab engineer shall be responsible for the planning, testing & reporting the results of the project to all stakeholders as per defined test methods within project timelines.
In this position, you will be the key driver in overall product development by validating product at every product development phase (from prototype till final build). As well as supporting the VAVE team for implementing the VAVE strategies identified by MFT.
You will also be support Lab manager to implement the Quality process within the Laboratory as ISO 17025 standard. Participate in the Quality / Customer audits as on when needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage all the testing activities as per the project plan
Plan, execute and report the results for each test request
Participate in the prototype build and design validation activities
Develop reliability fixtures to perform the life cycle testing & evaluate failures
Participate in cross functional project activities like failure analysis, quality issues & VAVE opportunities identified by the MFT.
Implement the laboratory process as per ISO 17025 standard.
Plan instrumentation needs & manage calibration program.
Required Qualifications, Skills / Competencies
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, e.g. electrical engineering, mechanical engineering.
1-2 years’ experience in related field
Strong technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.
Experience in handling laboratory measurement instruments mainly in measurement of temperature, electrical, pressure parameters.
Familiarity with different fluid handling systems and refrigeration systems is a plus, but not a must.
Knowledge / hands on experience laboratory practices / processes such as 5S, Kanban, lean, etc.
Knowledge in environmental chambers is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, that assist in building strong internal and external relationships.
Approach work with a continuous improvement mindset, innovative ideas, and results-driven solutions.
Excellent English language skills, German is a benefit
Knowledge in different national and international test standards related to performance and safety (IEC / UL / ISO) is desired.
