Role : Based in Frankfurt, this candidate will be part of a growing global government affairs team (A&I GGA Team), supporting Ant International’s mission to bring more inclusive, green and sustainable changes to the digital ecosystem in the region. The remit of this role is primarily the DACH region with opportunity to get involved in other EMEA geographies. The role reports to our Head of Government Affairs EMEA.We are looking to hire a dynamic self-starter, versatile and seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the local and cross-border digital economy and payment landscape. The work environment is highly matrixed and cross-functional and will require the candidate to collaborate effectively with a variety of internal stakeholders across diverse disciplines, countries and cultures.

Main Responsibilities :

  • Lead Ant International’s government affairs presence in Germany and the DACH region by establishing and maintaining relations with relevant government bodies, trade associations, and peers;
  • Support Ant International market entry and licensing processes in the region;
  • Establish solid working relationships with business colleagues in our Germany offices and EMEA locations and work closely with our internal stakeholders to identify business development and partnership opportunities generated by the local public policy environment, especially in the areas of Web3 and digital payments;
  • Provide day-to-day support, strategic advice and recommendations to our international businesses and communicate closely with the business team and related internal stakeholders on key local policy initiatives;
  • Represent Ant International in German relevant policy forums and build close relationships with German stakeholders in relevant policy and business areas including fintech, Web3, digital payments, cross-border trade, and ESG;
  • Support the Ant International GGA team and its wider ESG mandate in providing local insights, briefing materials, and event management support related to the EMEA region;
  • Manage day-to-day engagement with external resources in Germany, such as consultancies and trade associations, as well as any relevant third-party relationships.

What we’re looking for :

  • Significant public policy and government affairs experience in Germany, or substantial experience in working and engaging with policymakers, civil society, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders as part of a financial and technology related business
  • Deep understanding of the German policy and regulatory landscape in relation to cross-border digital payments, fintech, Web3, and the digital economy
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute advocacy campaigns supporting business expansion, public policy engagement, and relationship building
  • Prior work with government or experience driving public-private partnerships in the digital economy area would be an asset
  • Business development mindset, highly motivated self-starter, strong cultural adaptability and keen learning capacity
  • Effective communication skills to convince and create mutual understanding
  • Strong project management skills with good attention to details and solid analytical skills to “think out of the box”
  • A team player who inspires confidence in people
  • Excellent command of English and German, proficiency in other EMEA languages would be a plus
  • Impeccable degree of discretion, confidentiality, and ethics
