As an Applied ML Researcher (Lead Modeller), you will take full ownership of the modeling core of our platform. You will work directly with our CTO to design, formalize, and implement the computational and semantic models that translate real-world organizational complexity into executable decision intelligence.

Responsibilities
- Lead the modeling core with fundamental mathematical, statistical, and machine-learning methods that bring customer and market data with knowledge into an executable strategic twin
- Translate business reality into formal models and work closely with product, domain experts, and customers to convert messy, real-world organizational structures into clean, computable abstractions
- Integrate ML models with ontologies and knowledge graphs to ensure explainability, composability, and traceability of decisions
- Apply natural language processing techniques to extract meaningful insights from text data and integrate it into data models
- Present and communicate research findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in the field of machine learning and contribute to the continuous improvement of our technologies
Requirements
Ph.D. or a Master's degree in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related field4+ years of experience in applied machine learning research or implementationProficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, with experience in machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)Strong foundation in designing models from scratch, explicitly not just tuning existing architectures, with owning tech decisions with their assumptions, limitations, and trade-offs in model designStrong knowledge of natural language processing techniques and toolsStrong experience in connecting ML models with semantic representations to capture domain logic and dependencies, understanding ontologies and knowledge graphsSolid mathematical and statistical background in optimization, probabilistic modeling, time-series analysis, graph-based models, or simulationProven ability to conduct rigorous research and develop innovative solutions to complex problemsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and curious mindsetExcellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiencesYou must speak German at a level C1 or higherYou must speak English at a level C1 or higherYou already live or are willing to relocate to Cologne, GermanyBenefits
