Business Controller

A logistics company is currently recruiting a Business Controller to work in their operations. In this role, you will oversee and manage financial activities, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives. Acting as a liaison between Operations, Accounting, and Management, you will provide detailed financial reports, forecasts, and analyses.

TYPE : Full-time, initially 1-year contract (potential for extension)

WORKING HOURS : 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

SALARY : Between €5,000 to €6,000 gross per month

START : ASAP

LOCATION : West Amsterdam, The Netherlands (with the possibility to work from home 1 day per week)

Business Controller Main Responsibilities :

• Analyze financial performance and compare it with business goals.
• Provide recommendations for cost management.
• Conduct profitability and performance analysis for branches.
• Monitor key financial metrics such as margins and variances between budgeted and actual performance.
• Reconcile monthly performance reports with accounting information.
• Prepare monthly management reports for branch managers and senior management.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements.

Business Controller Ideal Candidate :

• HBO degree in finance or accounting.
• At least five years of relevant working experience, particularly in accounting and logistics.
• Knowledge of logistics and freight forwarding operations is advantageous
• Strong knowledge of the General Ledger processes and reconciliations
• Proven ability to analyze complex financial data
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with financial systems
• Business-level fluency in English is required
• Dutch language ability would be advantageous
