Der Lehrstuhl für Empirical Corporate Finance (Prof. Dr. Christian Andres) an der WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar widmet sich der empirischen Analyse von Unternehmensentscheidungen und deren Wirkung auf Kapitalmärkte, Investoren und Institutionen. Schwerpunkte liegen auf Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Governance, Analysten und Ausschüttungspolitik. Unsere Forschung untersucht, wie Märkte, Regulierung und Unternehmensstrategien zusammenspielen. Die WHU ist international ausgerichtet, bietet ein exzellentes Forschungsumfeld und ein lebendiges Doktorandenprogramm.

Ihre Aufgaben

• Durchführung eigenständiger empirischer Forschung im Bereich Corporate Finance, mit dem Ziel, Ergebnisse auf internationalen Konferenzen vorzustellen und in führenden Fachzeitschriften zu publizieren.
• Mitarbeit bei der Begleitung von Vorlesungen im Bereich Finance.
• Aktive Teilnahme am strukturierten Doktorandenprogramm der WHU.

Ihr Profil

• Überdurchschnittlicher Masterabschluss in Finance, Volkswirtschaftslehre, Wirtschaftswissenschaften oder einem verwandten Fach.
• Starke mathematisch-analytische Fähigkeiten; Programmierkenntnisse (z. B. R, Python, Stata) sind von Vorteil.
• Hohes Interesse an empirischer Kapitalmarktforschung, insbesondere in den Bereichen M&A, Corporate Governance und Analysten.
• Hervorragende Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift (Deutschkenntnisse sind nicht erforderlich).
• Freude an wissenschaftlicher Arbeit in einem internationalen Umfeld

General information

The Chair of Empirical Corporate Finance (Prof. Dr. Christian Andres) at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar conducts research on corporate decisions and their effects on capital markets, investors, and institutions. The focus is on mergers & acquisitions, corporate governance, financial analysts, and payout policy. Our research analyzes how markets, regulation, and corporate strategies interact. WHU offers an internationally oriented environment, an excellent research infrastructure, and a vibrant doctoral program.

Your mission

• Conduct independent empirical research in corporate finance with the aim of presenting results at international conferences and publishing in leading academic journals.
• Support in the delivery of finance lectures (no tutorials required).
• Active participation in WHU’s structured doctoral program.

Your profile

• Outstanding Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills; programming experience (e.g., R, Python, Stata) is an advantage.
• Strong interest in empirical capital market research, particularly in M&A, corporate governance, and financial analysts.
• Excellent command of English (both written and spoken); German is not required.
• Enthusiasm for academic research in an international environment.
