The Hertie School in Berlin prepares

exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society. The school offers master’s programmes, executive education and doctoral programmes, distinguished by interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, as well as outstanding research. We are looking to hire a

Student Research Assistant - REBALANCE (gn)

part-time (10 hours per week). The contract shall start as of 01 September 2024 and will initially be limited until 28 February 2025. As part of a HORIZON Europe project and of a team of 4 (2 professors, 1 post-doc researcher, 1 research associate) at the Hertie School, you will work with us on the relationship between alternative organizing and democracy. We are particularly interested in how alternative forms of organizing, such as social enterprises, understand democracy and how do they work or structure themselves according to certain democratic principles. We also try to develop a better understanding how their work affects democracy.

Your tasks :

  • Support with data collection (e.g. setting up interviews, transcription, etc.)
  • Support with data analysis, mostly qualitative (e.g. coding)
  • Review, classify, and summarizing academic articles on relevant topics
  • Support the team administratively in managing the grant (e.g. organizing events, reporting to the funder, etc.)
  • Other supporting administrative tasks

Your profile :

  • You are an advanced Bachelor’s or a Master's student in Sociology, Business & Management, Public Administration, or related social sciences; enrolled at a German university
  • You have an interest in organization studies, and particularly in alternative forms of organizing or social enterprises
  • You have an excellent command of written and spoken English
