Legal Counsel (m/f/x) - Hybrid (Multiple Locations in Germany)

About the Role
Our client, a leading international organisation in the logistics and supply chain sector is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its growing European operations. This role offers exposure to a wide variety of legal topics, including commercial contracting, transportation and logistics law, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and international legal coordination. The position is ideal for a business‑oriented lawyer who thrives in a fast‑paced, global environment and enjoys partnering closely with operational and commercial teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on a broad range of commercial matters, including logistics agreements, warehousing contracts, transportation terms, NDAs, MSAs, tenders, and customer/vendor negotiations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts in alignment with internal policies and industry standards (e.g., transport and logistics frameworks, warehousing terms, Incoterms, 3PL/4PL agreements).
- Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory requirements, including transportation regulations, customs rules, and data protection (GDPR).
- Implement and develop templates, guidelines, controls, and training materials to support operational and commercial teams and mitigate legal risk.
- Coordinate with external law firms as required.
- Contribute to regional and global legal initiatives, including policy development and process improvements.
- Act as a trusted advisor to management and operational teams, providing clear, practical, and solution‑oriented guidance.
- Occasional travel within Europe.
Qualifications
- Fully qualified German lawyer (Volljurist) with First and Second State Exams
- At least 4 years' post‑qualification experience, ideally in logistics, transport, supply chain, or a comparable industry (in‑house experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of commercial, contract, and transportation law (e.g., ADSp, HGB transport law, CMR, Incoterms beneficial).
- Experience supporting cross‑border operations and working with multinational teams.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills; fluent German and English (written and spoken).
- Strong commercial judgment and the ability to balance legal risks with business needs.
- Proactive, structured, and detail‑oriented working style, with confidence presenting and collaborating across teams.
