The Opportunity
The Chapter Lead (m / f / d) Database Operations is responsible for managing an international team, coordinating and prioritizing tasks aligned with the department head, and executing the IT strategy with a focus on managing database systems in a high critical environment for the German market. The role involves ensuring continuous, uninterrupted service across Oracle (including GoldenGate), MS SQL, and PostgreSQL databases.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead an international team, conduct team meetings, and coordinate with other team leaders within the department as well as meetings with support teams and stakeholders from the business.
- Manage and motivate personnel, conduct performance reviews, and engage in goal-setting and performance evaluation discussions.
- Guarantee a stable, continuous, and error-free high critical production environment for database operations.
- Prioritize operational tasks such as patch management, security audits, and remediation measures over project-oriented tasks to ensure operational security.
- Oversee team workload, anticipate and address potential capacity issues, and manage resource allocation for optimal team performance.
- Continually seek opportunities to optimize efforts through tool support, process innovation, and potential offshoring of task.
- Analyze, understand, and support the business processes and data associated with database operations.
- Manage the operational activities in data centers concerning databases and interconnected applications.
- Participate in the planning and management of the departmental budget.
- Contribute to projects with a focus on database integration.
- Coordinate the different on-call support rotation for critical database systems.

A degree in Computer Science or comparable IT-specific education (e.g., IT specialist) and at least 5 years of professional experience in personnel management.Experience in project participation.Excellent knowledge of database architecture.Expert knowledge in the area of security (release management, TLS, permission management, technical users, risks from external attacks, etc.).Proficient in English and German.Ability to work in a team and under pressure.A high sense of responsibility.
