We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Embedded Audio Engineer to join our technology development team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in implementing and fine-tuning our audio processing algorithms. Your expertise in embedded systems programming, audio signal processing, and algorithm tuning will be key in achieving our goal of seamlessly integrating our technologies into our customers’ products.

Tasks

  • Collaborate with the technology development team to implement real-time audio processing algorithms on leading DSPs in the hearables industry including, e.g., Cadence Tensilica DSPs (ADI, Airoha, BES) and Kalimba DSP (Qualcomm)
  • Write clean and well-documented code in C / C++, Python, and MATLAB.
  • Optimize code for efficiency and memory utilization.
  • Fine-tune algorithms for optimal acoustic performance and user experience, requiring either a well-developed understanding of hearing or a strong willingness to learn about acoustic tuning.
  • Conduct acoustic measurements, including performance evaluations of headphones, acoustic path measurements, and the usage of dummy heads and multi-channel loudspeaker setups.
  • Engage in effective partner and supplier correspondence, ensuring smooth collaboration with platform and DSP partners.
  • Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn, collaborate with the team, and provide support when needed.

Requirements

  • Master’s / PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Informatics, or a comparable field.
  • Proficient in embedded systems programming, with practical experience in Audio DSPs, firmware development, and inter-chip communication.
  • Be familiar with software development concepts (including GIT version control, unit testing, experience with debugging of real-time hardware, profiling of processing cycles and memory utilization)
  • In-depth knowledge and background in audio signal processing, encompassing frame- or sample-based processing, audio filtering principles, and filter design.
  • A keen interest in acoustics and the ability to fine-tune algorithms to achieve exceptional audio performance.
  • Practical experience with acoustic measurements and performance evaluation of audio devices.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C / C++, Python, and MATLAB.
