The en gi neer will be re spon si ble for im ple men ting, sup por ting, and do cu men ting sever al large- scale ap p li ca ti on sys tems.

This role in clu des but is not li mi ted to, the in stal la ti on, mo di fi ca ti on, tes ting, and up grades of ap p li ca ti ons, ope ra ting sys tems, file sys tems, hard ware, and cloud en vi ron ments.

The work will be car ried out toge ther with other ad mi nis tra tors.

We are an open, pas sio na te, and sup por ti ve re se arch group at the Uni ver si ty of Frei burg high ly in vol ved in many soft ware pro jects re la ted to the glo bal Ga la xy com mu ni ty, in clu ding lea ding the and pro jects and de ve lo ping state- of-the-art com pu ta tio nal workflows for ge no mics, me ta ge no mics, tran scrip to mics, and phar ma co ge no mics data.

Based in Frei burg, is the sci ence gate way, pro vi ding an open- access com pu ta tio nal in fra st ruc tu re for ac ces sing and run ning a vast ca ta log of data re sour ces, tools, and work flows.

It is used by ne ar ly 100,000 users world wi de.

This po si ti on will allow the post hol der to in ter act with an in ter di sci pli na ry bio in for ma tics, data sci ence, and soft ware de ve lo p ment team, working with cutting- edge cloud in fra st ruc tu re across Eu ro pe and en ga ged in ad van ced to pics such as , en cryp ted data pro ces sing, or smart sche du ling of jobs across fe de ra ted re sour ces.

Your Tasks

• De ve lo p ment & main ten an ce of the Ga la xy ser ver and re la ted in fra st ruc tu re, e.g., TIaaS (Trai ning In fra st ruc tu re as a Ser vice), Pulsar- Network, and the Be a con Ser vice
• Work wit hin the team of Ad mins to de sign and im pro ve de ve lo ped soft ware and de ploy ment pipe lines
• Con cep tua liza ti on of up date pro ce du res and soft ware in te gra ti ons in the run ning sys tem
• Im ple men ting and main tai ning best se cu ri ty prac ti ces and ad he ring to our in for ma ti on se cu ri ty po li ci es and in dus try stan dards
• Stay ing cur rent with in dus try trends and emer ging tech no lo gies, e.g., vir tua liza ti on and in fra st ruc tu re tech no lo gies, au to ma tiza ti on, and CI / CD pipe lines
• Proac tive ly iden ti fy ing op por tu nities to en han ce the Ga la xy Eu ro pe in stance as well as ge ne ral de ploy ment gui des for other Ga la xy in stances
• In te gra ting in fra st ruc tu ral com po n ents like va rious sto rage sys tems and special- purpose com pu ta ti on nodes con tai ning ac ce le ra tors like GPUs
• Com mu ni ty sup port and trai ning De ve lo p ment of do cu men ta ti on and trai ning ma te ri al for Ga la xy ad mins and au to ma ti on work flowssup port of ser vices ad mi nis tra torsgive work shops and train other ad mi nis tra tors in live ses si ons

Your Pro fi le

We are loo king for a de di ca ted and mo ti va ted team play er with strong com mu ni ca ti on skills and a good com mand of the Eng lish lan guage.

The suc cess ful ap p li cant will be an ex pert Linux sys tem ad mi nis tra tor with pro fi ci ent know ledge of Py thon, Git, and SQL da ta ba ses and a Ba che lor or Mas ter in In for ma tics or equal qua li fi ca ti on.

He / she is an ana ly ti cal thin ker, problem- solver and re li a ble, with a strong de si re to learn and col la bo ra te with the team.
