The job
The Department of Environmental Informatics is looking for a scientist specialising in data processing and scientific visualization of geoscientific data for Digital Twins
Your tasks
- Data processing and scientific visualization of geoscientific data dealing with geothermal research or energy storage
- Building 3d and 4d browser-based visualization studies and digital twins of research sites using VTK
- Research and evaluation of suitable visualization methods as well as UI / UX design
- Communication of research results to scientists, stakeholders or the public (this includes scientific articles and reports, but also evaluation studies, videos or interactive prototypes)

University degree (Master) in a project-related field (computer science or engineering sciences)Experience with scientific 3d / 4d visualizationSolid experience with Python, knowledge of libraries such as trame, PyVista, geopandas, GemGIS, or GemPy will be helpfulExperience with VTK or ParaView and extending ParaView using Python scriptsExperience with database interfaces, geo-databases and web services will be helpfulBeing able to follow conversations in GermanIf you have experience with any of the following we’d like to hear about it, but all of these are very much secondary and not required for you to apply : Geographic Information Systems (e.g. ArcGis, QGIS, etc.) or the structure of geoscientific file formats Vuetify as UI components frameworkHaving experience with Unity and C# would be very welcome as we are also developing geographic environments using this technology. Software to create geological models (e.g. GOCAD, Leapfrog, GMS, etc.), Meshing software, ideally open-source software (e.g. GMSH, TetGen, etc.) and libraries such as GDAL or CGAL
