Senior Business Development Manager
Overview
The Senior Business Development (BD) Manager serves as a key interface to uncover and cultivate client business opportunities that result in revenue for WuXi AppTec.
The Sr. BD Manager has a strong understanding of all aspects of Medical Device business and may assist in the development and training of new Business Development Managers and Business Development Associates.
Responsibilities
- Manages and grows a defined list of accounts, which may be located beyond a specific geography, by presenting WuXi AppTec’s Medical Device Testing services to potential and existing clients.
- Applies marketing information, CRM information, prospecting and face-to-face meetings to efficiently identify prospective sales opportunities.
- Collect and disseminate accurate information from clients to provide timely quotations to secure new projects.
- Conducts follow up sales activities post-quotation for the purpose of expediting client decisions.
- Complete relevant reports and update Client Relationship Management (CRM) tool in a timely manner.
- Collaborates with and communicates regularly with Field Services, Project Managers and the Client Success team to ensure customer expectations are understood and being met.
- Increase revenue to meet established territory target goals.
- Assist in the development of new BD Managers using specific training tools and joint travel as necessary
- Mentor new BD Managers regarding operations and sales procedures
- Provide feedback to Sales Director on process improvement and sales strategies implementation
- May be selected to participate in selected committees as a liaison to the field sales team and provide feedback to the Sales Director
- May Participate in interview process of new employees
- Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
- Contributes to the overall sales organization and to the achievement of sales goals
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant direct selling / sales experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a quota carrying sales position with a history of achievement of quota targets.
- Experience selling a product or service in the Medical Device or Life Science marketplace.
- Demonstrated success managing an assigned territory, selling multiple opportunities and projects simultaneously.
- Minimum of a BS / BA degree in Business or a relevant Scientific discipline; Chemistry, Biology, etc.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
- Proficient verbal & written communication skills.
- Must be able to read, write and understand English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Travel is required up to 50%, primarily domestic with occasional international travel. Travel frequency is often daily with occasional overnights required.
