About the FHSE

The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.

The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) at the University of Luxembourg brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences.

People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty . Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed. The faculty's research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society.

Your role

In the context of the Doctoral Training Unit on "Economic Insecurity : Causes, Consequences and Actions" (EICCA) established by the University of Luxembourg ( UL ) and the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research ( LISER ), with the financial support of the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) in the framework of its Program for Research Intensive Doctoral Education ( PRIDE ), we are currently offering 5 PhD (Doctoral Candidate) positions for a duration of up to three years, with a possible extension to a fourth year.

EICCA consists of an interdisciplinary group of 14 supervisors affiliated to two Doctoral Schools who present a joint strategy for research and PhD training, and provide an innovative high-quality training environment.

EICCA will train 14 social scientists from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds interested in the quantitative analyses of the causes and consequences of economic insecurity (EI) for individual's lives and society at large, and the understanding of the role that public policies play in mitigating or amplifying the size of these impacts - this is essential for the development of adequate policy actions addressing the rise of insecurity, and therefore the improvement of individual wellbeing.
